A New Place

So, we've moved! It's actually something that has been in the works for quite some time. We started looking for a new place a couple years ago. Having three kids in one bedroom got pretty hairy at times, and our eating nook was starting to feel crowded - with just the five of us in it! We just didn't have much room left to grow into as a family. We looked at a number of different places, but July of 2013, we found this:

An old farmhouse on 3 acres within the right price range about ten minutes away. We walked all over it, went home and started checking through the lists:

The Must Have List

4 Bedrooms - check!
Country location - check!
Large dining area - check!

The Would-Really-Like List:

Outbulding/s for Kyle - check!
Sewing area for me - check!
Good layout for hospitality - check!

and The In-Our-Dreams List:

Walk in Master Closet - check!
Front porch - check!
Fireplace - check!

We did some thinking and discussing, and realized that even the things that it didn't have (the kitchen lacked storage/counter space, no coat closet on the ground floor) would be pretty simple to fix. Of course there was a lot of prayer, research, and some inspections and negotiations that followed, but we bought it about three months later.

And since we were preparing to leave Nitchfield, I decided it was time to start a new blog! :-)

We had some work to do, and after learning Asher's diagnosis we decided to give ourselves whatever time we needed and just move when we were ready. We ended up moving in August. We got a lot of big projects done, which I look forward to sharing. There's also PLENTY more to do; walls to paint, curtains to sew, pictures to hang. So I'll have home and decorating things to blog about for the next, oh, 10 to 15 years or so.

I'm really enjoy making our house look like us. The key is learning to enjoy the process, isn't it? One tiny, pretty step at a time.
